A customer brought in a Sonic Frontier Power 3 power amp with a broken rotary switch. The amplifier also has excessive static noise. The problem was caused by a faulty rotary switch, and a ground wire which had fallen off due to a weak solder point. However, the repair was very time consuming as the switch was inaccessible and the entire back panel had to be disassembled. A rather unusual industrial engineering design. What appeared to be a 20 min. job turned out to be 6 hours.
